Vice President for Student Affairs

Bio – Lisa B. Harris, Ph.D.

Dr. Lisa B. Harris has served as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Boise State University since July 2011.  She came to Boise State from Mississippi State University, where she served as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs for seven years and as an adjunct faculty member in the Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education Master’s program.  Previously, she held positions as Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and Assistant Vice President of Admissions and Financial Aid at the University of Alabama, Dean and Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Louisiana State University, Coordinator of High School Relations at the University of Tennessee, and Assistant Director of Admissions at Clemson University.
 
Dr. Harris completed her Ph.D. in Vocational Education, Adult Education emphasis at Louisiana State University in 1997, her Master’s degree in Personnel Services, Counseling emphasis from Clemson University in 1982, and her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Clemson University in 1978.

Dr. Harris is very active in professional leadership roles, most recently serving the NASPA Region III as the Mississippi Director.  She has also been the president and served many years on the executive board of the Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (SACRAO) and also served in that role for the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (CACRAO).  Dr. Harris served as the editor of the SACRAO Journal for three years and was a reviewer for the Southern Association of College Student Affairs (SASCA) for five years.  She has been a NASPA Annual Conference Program Reviewer for the last three years.

In recognition for her dedication and commitment, Dr. Harris has received several notable recognitions, including the Sam S. May Commitment to Service Award from the University of Alabama in 2004, the Friends of RHA award from Mississippi State in 2004, The Distinguished Service award from SACRAO in 2005, the Margaret Ruthven Perry Distinguished Journalism Award from SACRAO in 2009, and the Ritter Award for PanHellenic Alumna of the Year from Mississippi State University in 2010.  She has also served on the Board of the American Red Cross, as an officer for Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Board, and as an officer for her children’s school board.

She is an avid sports enthusiast and can often be found cheering on the Broncos at many venues.  Dr. Harris also loves golf, travel, and yoga, and plans to explore the beautiful west that she now inhabits.
